Character Creation

This is useful for creating player characters and NPCs!

The 5 Ws

When making a character, it can be helpful to ask to yourself the following questions:
Who?

Who is your character?

Who do they want to be?

Who do they consider family?

What?

What does your character look like?

What items are important to them?

What things are important them emotionally?

When?

When in their life are they adventuring?

Are they young or old?

Is this their first job?

What life events have recently happened to them?

Where?

Where is your character from?

Where are they going?

Where have they been?

Why?

Why does this character exist?

Why are they a part of this group?

Why would they ever leave it?

Starting Items

All characters start with whatever weapons they want!
Think about at least 1 weapon and 1 far-ranged weapon
They also start with other Items you think makes sense for their background (discuss this with your GM)
Basic adventuring Items are assumed to be had by someone in your party (like rope, ammo, torches, etc.)
An example starting inventory

1 Longsword that glows with an eternal fire

1 Bow with arrows

A necklace from my mother

2 Fast Potions

A child's toy

Actions, Abilities, & Stats

     Actions are underlined

You can do these in Combat by spending Action Points (AP)

     Abilities are italicized

These are passive and always active, or triggered by something

Each Stat has 6 Tiers with Actions & Abilities

What Stats, Actions, and Abilities you have depend on what character sheet(s) you're using.

SimpleTop has a default character sheet you can use, but the Groups might have a custom character sheet you like better!

You usually start at Level 1

You have 8 Stat Points (SP) to put into whichever Stat(s) you want.

SimpleTop's default Stats

SimpleTop offers 4 Stats by default: Strength, Skill, Support, and Scharisma (no, that's not a type, it's a bit).

Strength

Strength represents how powerful you are, or how easily you surpass your mental barriers and never give up.

In combat, this increases Health and damage output.

Skill

Skill represents how in touch you are with your inner power.

In combat, this provides a variety of Actions.

Support

Support represents how in touch you are with who, or what, is around you. This could be a connection with a nature, insight into a crowd's behavior, or anything in between.

In combat, this heals and blocks damage.

Scharisma

Scharisma, the last skill that starts with an S, represents how much of an effect you have on who, or what, is around you.

In combat, this can change rolls and provide some minor healing.
